Applications for Power Modules

An application for calculating the cost reduction when using their product, and an interactive web app to explain how it works.

The PowerBlock

The PowerBlock is a hybrid generator for portable energy that combines smart energy management and solar power to drastically reduce the costs and pollution compared to a conventional generator. I was, and still am, involved with the development and next to that I developed two applications meant for sales. One is an interactive overview that explains how the system works. The other is a tool to calculate the reduction in costs and pollution one would have when using a PowerBlock.

Calculate Your Savings

On the website of PowerModules potential customers can quickly get an estimation of the savings they will get when using a PowerBlock. They fill in a little form with basic parameters like the currents costs and power of the generator and immediately get an email with the estimated savings. Power Modules automatically receives an email with the user’s name and email.

The application calculates the savings by looking at the power consumption, necessary operation hours, necessary maintenance and current fuel price retreived form the internet.

Advanced Calculation

Next to the free calculation tool, which is only meant for customer acquisition, there is an advanced calculation tool. With this tool the exact cost and pollution reduction can be calculated. It includes all relevant parameters for a precise calculation, like what kind of generator is used, the optimum workload of this generator, the maximum amount of operation hours, extra energy sources and expected consumption peakes.

The tool can also be used to calculate the minimum requirements and the cheapest option. With the three functionalities this advaced tool can be used by the engineer to calculate exactly what the customer needs and how much it will cost.

Learning by Doing

On the company’s website a potential customer can read how the PowerBlock works by interacting with an application explaining the system. By actively participating, the user picks up and remembers the information faster and better. You can try it out yourself, but it is in Dutch.
